My humanness hoped that one day one of my fellow bloggers would nominate me for an award too… That would mean that someone, other than myself found the time to read my writing… enjoy what they read and enjoyed being part of my life…
And… Martha came along and nominated me for my FIRST award… woow… and I feel so, so honoured…
But… after surfing WordPress, when I first began blogging and saw the TIME it must take up… away from ME… receiving and giving awards to fellow bloggers… I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t take TIME away, from my precious ‘ME TIME’…
…Being a bit of a rebel, IAM also not so good at following rules…
and last but by far not the least… I really hope that sooner rather than later, everyone will LOVE THEIR MAGNIFICENT SELF so much, that they give an award to themself… (not that I don’t love the initiative of flowing awards around WordPress to expand readership and friendship)… but it is important that we love ourself first and this is a great way to show this…
I therefore choose not to participate in receiving and giving awards… knowing my blogging friends will understand… and I will continue to be a loyal friend, reading with interest about our unique life experiences and teachings…

Ahhhh!!! At the risk of any of those sweet friends of mine who have bestowed me with the gift of those awards I agree with a resounding YES!!!!
Not that I feel that I have wasted my time in accepting. But now I just graciously thank the giver and truly am grateful, and have actually gifted a few early on, but over the years , I must say that I’ve discovered that even though the heart of the giver may be pure, those awards are totally just a networking tool and the newbies are usually the ones who give them until they realize the same as we have. They take all day if you do them right! And every now and then I might get sucked in to one if I have the time or am snowed in… which by the way both may be extremely unlikely cuz for one I live in California! 😉

I NEVER get awards so I took mine (greedy little human in me) LOL. I don’t know if I would make a habit out of it though (not to be presumptuous because I may not be nominated again either) because it did take a lot of time. I didn’t quite follow all the rules either lol but I tried. Anyway, I do feel you, and this was well said.
This is exactly the reason why I could not stay longer than 4 weeks on FB in my entire life. Or on Google Plus. It becomes politics otherwise. Good voor you Barbara!
